Why we prefer Try January to Dry January

Rather than cutting out wine altogether, we love to use this month as an opportunity to try something new; whether that’s discovering a different grape or seeing how our favorite wines pair with foods.

TRY A NEW WINE

If you're tired of Malbec and want to try something different, or if you've been avoiding Chardonnay…this is the perfect opportunity to explore something new.

Pinot Grigio lovers on the look out for a new favourite should try our Artelium Pinot Gris 2021 - it's made from the same grape variety but is produced here in Sussex.

Or why not seek out a new producer. There are now hundreds of wine producers here in the UK, start with those local to you and get discovering!

TRY NEW EXPERIENCES

A great glass of wine is always better enjoyed with friends! Why not see if there's a local wine society or club in your area that you could join to meet new people who share your love for all things vinous?

If you live near a wine estate, consider taking a private tasting or a vineyard tour. At Artelium, we run vineyard tours year round and our knowledgeable staff will be thrilled to share their expertise with you.

TRY NEW FOOD AND WINE PAIRINGS

We all know that a light, crisp white can be paired with a creamy risotto but why not try a light Pinot Noir alongside a rich mushroom risotto instead.

If you haven't yet tried Fish & Chips with Blanc de Blancs, give it a try! You'll be glad you did.

Drink Better, Drink Less

But if you'd still like to "drink better, drink less" this January and are looking for ways to imbibe moderately but still enjoy yourself then we've got some top tips...

We love using a Coravin to enjoy bottles over several months, rather than saving them for special occasions. This way we can taste the wine at different stages of its aging and don't need worry about finishing it all right away.

For similar reasons, we think a decent bottle stopper is the one "wine gadget" that shouldn't be missing from any kitchen. It means you can open a bottle of sparkling wine as midweek treat and it'll last until weekend—what's not to love about that?

If spirits are more your tipple, like our Collaborators Dry Gin, then fill your glass with ice and mixer first before pouring a half measure of your favourite spirit over the top. But don't stir it! Use the tip of your finger to wipe a drop of gin around the rim of your glass too and you'll still enjoy all the gorgeous aromatics and aromas with only half the alcohol.
